Training Day: JQuery for designers – Day 2 – Fade, Slide, and Show Methods

Before I get started, I had a question from a blog reader who was inquiring about what exactly JQuery was. I had changed my face book and aim status to say that I was eating miles for lunch and JQuery for dessert. The miles statement meant that I was skipping lunch for the day and having a protein shake instead with a banana and in lieu of the meal, I was heading to the gym where I run a few miles during lunch. The JQuery statement meant that as soon as I returned to work, I would be doing some JQuery training. Instead of tech terms, she thought I was actually eating some new dessert called JQuery. Word. In any event, today we went over using methods to fade, slide and show elements in a page. We even learned to change the css stylings of an element after a function had been performed. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me. I am interested to see the application of this. Oh yea… almost forgot the explanation. JQuery is like shorthand javascript for designers. You download the library from http://www.jquery.com and it allows you to write less code. It’s like a safe shortcut in a way.

I am excited to see it’s future uses in my profesional design capacity.
